Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Tudor Baluta has joined Ukrainian cup holders Dynamo Kiev on loan for the season.
The 21-year-old will also have the prospect of playing Champions League football this season, after league runners-up Kiev clinched a place in the group stages of the competition.
Technical director Dan Ashworth commented, “This move is a great opportunity for Tudor and one which is good for all parties.
“Having broken into the national team with Romania, Tudor is keen to play regular football at a good standard.
“This move gives him the chance to do that, while also continuing his development in the top division of the Ukrainian domestic league, and potentially playing in the Champions League.
“As with all our loans, our team will watch Tudor’s progress closely and we wish him all the best for the season ahead.”
Baluta joined Albion from Romanian side FC Viitorul in January 2019 and was immediately loaned back to the Romanian side.
He helped the club win the domestic league, before returning to Albion that summer.
After spending the first half of last season at the club, a further loan move to ADO Den Haag followed in January this year.
He only made four appearances for the Dutch side, before the Eredivisie season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As well as eight national team caps, Baluta has made one appearance for Albion in last season’s Carabao Cup.
He joins Kiev, who are top of the table in Ukraine after five matches, and face Juventus, Barcelona and Ferencvaros in the Champions League groups stages this season.
