Aaron Connolly finds the net against Newcastle United.

Megan Connolly, Aaron Connolly, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Tudor Baluta make up the shortlist - let’s see exactly why they’ve been nominated…

Megan Connolly vs Birmingham City:

The Irish midfielder took aim from distance and netted a great goal to open the scoring in a 2-0 home win over Birmingham City. Inessa Kaagman added a second for Hope Powell’s side two minutes later to get Albion’s WSL campaign off to a perfect start.

Aaron Connolly vs Newcastle United:

Aaron Connolly notched his first goal of the new Premier League season in style to seal a 3-0 away win against Newcastle United.

Neal Maupay had put the visitors two goals up before the Republic of Ireland international got Albion’s third with a fabulous curling effort into the far corner.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh vs Preston North End:

The Iranian found the back of the net for the second consecutive Carabao Cup game as Albion ran out 2-0 winners at Deepdale in the third round.

Jahanbakhsh volleyed a stunning first-time effort from inside the area before a late goal from Alexis Mac Allister secured Albion’s passage into the fourth round.

Tudor Baluta vs Chelsea:

Baluta set Albion’s under-23s on their way to a first league victory of the new Premier League 2 season at home to Chelsea.

The Romanian spotted the Chelsea goalkeeper out of his goal, won the ball well in midfield and then produced a composed long-range finish.

Danny Cashman made it two after the break to give Simon Rusk’s men their first three points of the campaign.
