Danny Welbeck was mobbed after his second goal in as many Summer Series appearances.

Two late Newcastle goals saw us lose 2-1 in our final Premier League Summer Series match in New Jersey.

Danny Welbeck had put us ahead shortly after the break after brilliant work from Kaoru Mitoma, but two goals from Elliot Anderson in the final seven minutes won it for Eddie Howe's team.

A well-timed challenge by Matt Targett denied Facundo Buonanotte a clear shot at goal early on before Adam Lallana dragged wide a glorious opportunity from just inside the box.

Lallana went so close to scoring Albion a deserved opener.

Newcastle new boy Harvey Barnes nearly punished Jan Paul van Hecke for a misplaced pass as he sprinted at goal with Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy in support, but a vital touch from Joel Veltman took the ball away from the former Leicester City man and his scuffed effort was easily gathered by Bart Verbruggen.

Buonanotte’s claims for a penalty were waved away just after Pervis Estupinan had smashed wide on the half volley to bring an end to an entertaining, but goalless, first 45 minutes

Welbeck had his second goal of the Summer Series just after the restart though, after Mitoma got to the byline and pulled it back for the striker to tap home.

Danny Welbeck won't score many easier goals this season!

Buonanotte saw his low effort well saved by Nick Pope after Mitoma had countered from a Newcastle corner, before we brought on a number of substitutions.

Those changes impacted our rhythm and it would see Newcastle take control of proceedings.

Verbruggen pulled off an almightily impressive save to deny EAnderson from close range, somehow getting an outstretched glove to tip the Newcastle man's effort wide.

But Anderson would get the better of the Dutchman as he capitalised on a defensive mix-up to tuck home before he showed a clinical edge in the second minute of added time to secure a 2-1 victory for his team.

Albion line-up: Verbruggen, Gross (Weir 62), Veltman (Turns 59), van Hecke (Lamptey 80), Estupinan Samuels 62), Caicedo (Ayari 59), Dahoud (Gilmour 71), Buonanotte (Peupion 58), Lallana (Ferguson 59), Mitoma (Adingra 62), Welbeck (Pedro 71).
