Roberto De Zerbi says he is ‘ready to open the door’ to Leandro Trossard after the Albion player was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool.
De Zerbi said that Trossard retuned to Belgium this weekend with his blessing and insists he is part of his plans for the future.
He said, “I want to be clear about Leo. I’m sorry for this situation. I didn’t think I made a mistake with him; the people at the club know the situation well, and I’m fine with myself.

“I’m open to him and ready to open the door to him. He’s a good guy and a very important player for us.
“He has to understand he has to work in my way because I am coach and I decide the rules inside the dressing room.
“It’s not a bad situation, it’s a great situation because if we learn from it we can only improve. We only have one way to achieve our dream. We are Brighton, we all have to work hard and only think about the team and not ourselves.”
