Graham Potter joined the club in May 2019.

Graham Potter felt his side put in a "really good" performance as an entertaining 2-2 draw was played out against south-coast rivals Southampton at the Amex.

The Seagulls had taken a 2-0 first-half lead through Danny Welbeck and a Mohammed Salisu own goal, only for Saints to hit back through a James Ward-Prowse free-kick on the stroke of half-time.

The Saints skipper equalised shortly after the re-start, and while Pascal Gross had a goal chalked off by VAR for offside neither side could find the all-important winner.

“We’re a little bit frustrated because we felt we deserved more than 2-1 at half-time,” said the head coach. “But I thought the performance was really good, especially the first half.

“It was the third game in a week for both teams, with us coming back from Man City, so credit to the boys – they dug if for the whole game.

Solly March made an impact as a second-half substitute.

“The goal gave them [Southampton] a lift and we had to suffer at the start of the second half, but then I thought we finished the half better.

“I felt going to a three [at the back] helped us a little bit more. Once we got control, we were better and created some chances ourselves.

“It could have gone either way in the end, so we just have to take the point and be proud of the performance.”

The draw has moved Albion onto 41 points, equalling the club’s best Premier League tally, with four games still to play.

“It’s great for us to get that total but the guys want more,” Potter added. “We all want more and to finish strongly as we can. We have 12 points to compete for and that’s what we’ll do.”
