Florin Andone's last goal for the club came on the opening day of last season in a 3-0 win over Watford.

Graham Potter has praised the 'positive steps' Florin Andone is taking as he recovers from a long-term injury.

The Albion striker is doing ball work on grass again six months after he suffered serious knee ligament damage while playing on loan for Galatasaray.

The Romanian international, 27, is under contract with the club until 2023 and returned earlier this season to begin his rehabilitation.

Potter said, “It's great to see him working on the pitch again.

“He has had a long-term injury and it is a long road back from that injury. He has had to work hard in the gym and has had a lot of solitary moments I am sure.

“So it is nice for him to be out on the grass. [He is] still a long way off yet but it is a positive step. I am pleased for him.”

Andone joined Albion in June 2018 from Spanish club Deportivo and made his Premier League bow in October 2018 against Everton.

He scored five goals in his debut season and was also on target in the opening-day win over Watford at the start of the 2019-20 campaign before heading to Galatasaray on loan in October 2019.
