The Albion boss is pleased with the overall level of performances so far this campaign.

Graham Potter is confident there has been a definite improvement against the teams Albion have played so far compared to the same games last season.

That reflects in the points yielded. Albion have picked up nine points, compared to six in the corresponding fixtures last season.

Ahead of the trip to Fulham on Wednesday, Potter said, “It has been quite encouraging over the first block of 12 matches from a performance perspective. We have improved considerably and got closer to all the teams that we have played, apart from against Leicester on Sunday.

“But we’re disappointed because we haven't got the points and in this world we know that's the important thing.

Albion were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline on Sunday night at the King Power.

“So, we have to keep trying, keep working, keep that perspective and keep fighting for everything because, in the Premier League, every game is a challenge and we have to accept that.”

Albion will be boosted by the potential return of Adam Lallana, Tariq Lamptey and Adam Webster at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.

“Those three trained on Monday so that's good for us. We will have to see how they react. Leicester came a little bit too soon for them, but we're hopeful for Wednesday,” said Potter.

If Lallana does return, Potter knows that he will bring experience and know-how to the team.

“In the Premier League it's about both character and ability. You can't be successful if you rely on talent, you have to have both. I think players show that in different ways.

“We have got some quiet, resilient characters and then we have got some more vociferous ones and Adam is one of those guys.

“With his experience and what he has achieved in the game he brings a quality on the pitch so clearly we're happy to have him back because of what he will add to us.”
