Neal Maupay wants to see Albion continue their unbeaten away run when Graham Potter’s side face Newcastle United today.

Having not lost in seven Premier League matches on the road stretching back to February, Albion go in search of their first points of the campaign at St James’ Park.

Maupay said, “We will give our best. We had a difficult game against Chelsea on Monday and we felt we could have done more to get something out of the game.

“We want to start the season well and we have an opportunity to go to Newcastle and try to win the game. We looked back at Chelsea to see what we did well, what we didn’t do so well and how we can improve.”

The Frenchman has loved his first year at Albion and has barely had a moment to reflect on a whirlwind 12 months which finished with ten Premier League goals.

“It’s crazy, sometimes I don’t even realise how far I have come,” the 24-year-old said.

“When I was playing football as a kid I didn’t even necessarily want to be a professional, I just enjoyed playing. Now I am playing in the Premier League and I have scored goals against big teams.

Maupay scored twice against Arsenal last season - both proving to be winners.

“It’s huge. I am blessed to be here, I am enjoying it and making the most of it. I could never have known that I would be here one day, so the feeling is just happiness really.”

The former Brentford striker is hoping to see supporters back in the ground soon after the recent test match that saw 2500 fans admitted for the pre-season friendly against Chelsea at the Amex.

He added, “It was amazing having them back, even for a friendly. We all missed having the fans behind us and to having some noise in the stadium.

It was only one game though and it’s been a tough time for everyone. Hopefully they will be back soon - I can’t wait to have them back.”
