White and Leeds top of the pile

Ben White’s Leeds United lead the Sky Bet Championship after the Albion defender helped them to a 2-0 victory over Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.

Marco Bielsa’s men lead West Bromwich Albion by one point and are seven clear of third placed Fulham with nine games to go.

In the same division, Jayson Molumby, who signed a new contract with Albion last week, and Millwall were impressive 3-0 winners over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Friday evening. A hat-trick from Matt Smith moved the Lions up to eighth place and two points off the top six. 

Leon Balogun and Wigan Athletic picked up their fourth clean sheet in a row, drawing 0-0 at home to Luton Town on Saturday. The Latics are next in action when they travel to face Huddersfield this weekend.  Matt Clarke and Derby County were 3-0 winners over Christian Walton’s Blackburn Rovers at Pride Park on Sunday.

In League One, Robert Sanchez helped Rochdale to a 3-1 home success over promotion-chasing Rotherham United at Spotland.

Viktor Gyokeres was on the scoresheet for the sixth time this season as FC St Pauli drew 2-2 away with SV Sandhausen in Germany’s second tier. Leo Ostigard also played the 90 minutes. St Pauli host Nurnberg next on Sunday.

Elsewhere in Europe, George Cox scored his first goal for Fortuna Sittard in their 1-1 draw at home to PEC Zwolle on Friday night in the Erdevisie. 

The side are next in action when they travel to Tudor Baluta’s ADO Den Haag in three days’ time – the Romanian’s team were on the end of a 4-0 defeat away to AZ Alkmaar at the weekend. 

In Poland, Kasper Lopata and Zaglebie Sosnowiec lost 5-3 at home to Puszcza Niepolomiece while in Spain, Bojan Radulovic and Deportivo Alaves B drew 1-1 at home to Real Valladoid B. 

In Ecuador, Billy Arce was a second half substitute in Barcelona SC’s 2-1 defeat away to LDO Quito. In the MLS, Jurgen Locadia and FC Cincinati lost 2-1 away to Atlanta United. 

Back on home soil in non-league, Carl Rushworth and Worthing were 4-2 winners over Wingate & Finchley on Saturday – the Rebels stay seven points clear at the top of the Isthmian Premier League.
