Head coach Graham Potter is challenging Yves Bissouma to maintain his consistent form until the end of the season after the Mali midfielder’s man-of-the-match display against Wolves.

Bissouma starred in the goalless draw at Molineux on Saturday as he started a third successive Premier League game for the first time this season.

Whether the 23-year-old keeps his place for Saturday’s home game against Arsenal remains to be seen, but Potter felt Bissouma’s display against Wolves was his best of the season so far.

He said, “Yves has had to be patient this season, but I thought his performance at Sheffield United was good and I thought Wolves was the best performance I’ve seen from him.

“He has trained really well and physically he is in a good place – against Wolves he won a lot of possession back, he has shown good discipline and quality on the ball.

“He makes good decisions, and he has the ability that top players have, in that he has got the power and athleticism to be able to use the ball well, so then it’s down to the tactical understanding of how we want him to play and he’s now good at that too.

“I think he can get even better and I’m looking forward to him making a big impact in the remainder of the season.”
