Dan Burn believes that Alexis Mac Allister could make a big impact during the closing stages of the season, and says his arrival has given Albion's squad a boost.

Mac Allister was recalled from his loan spell at Boca Juniors last month, and Burn has been impressed by what he’s seen so far from the 21-year-old.

He said, “We trained properly together for the first time on Tuesday, and he looked sharp and showed some very nice touches.

“He’ll be match fit because he’s been playing recently with Argentina under-23s, so he’ll have a part to play in the second half of the season. From what I’ve seen, he’s a very good player.

“Hopefully adding him can freshen things up a bit and provide more competition for places, which lifts everyone.

“I’m not the manager so I don’t know what part Alexis is going to play, but he looks promising from what I’ve seen.”

Solly March and Bernardo battle it out in training.

Burn returned to action after breaking his collar bone on New Year's Day in Albion's 1-1 draw against Watford a fortnight ago.

He is grateful to Graham Potter for putting him straight back in the team, and says the competition for places at left-back, with Solly March and Bernardo other options, is keeping him on his toes.

He added, “Bernie has done very well, but I’ve said before that we’ve got a really good squad, and whoever comes in can perform for us.

“There are a lot of people who can play in that position, and that includes Solly who can put in a good performance there if need be.

“It was surprising to come straight back in, but it shows the confidence the manager has in me. It doesn’t matter who’s playing though as long as we get points on the board.”
