Dan Burn is ready to kick on after putting a frustrating injury enforced absence to the past, and feels he will only benefit from the mid-season player break.

Burn was out for nearly a month with a broken collarbone before returning straight into the starting line-up for 1-1 draw against Watford last time out, and he is now focused on returning to top form.

He said, “I’ve been working hard on the training pitch doing running, and I felt I was ready to come back.

“I got a scan and everything was okay for me to play in the Watford game. It was nice to be back out there, but it’s always strange to come back into the team when you’ve been out for five or six weeks.

“It takes a bit of time to get back to your best, so I was glad to have this two-week period to train hard. I’ll now be even more ready to play on Saturday.”

Albion head into tomorrow's encounter at Sheffield United looking to secure their first league win of 2020, but the defender feels his side can take plenty of encouragement from the way they battled back to secure a share of the spoils against both Watford and West Ham United.

“We haven’t dwelled on it too much, but any game you play in this league is tough no matter what the opposition," he added.

“Time will tell come the end of the season if we feel we should’ve done any more, but I still think we’ve put in some good performances, especially in our recent comebacks.

“You saw it in the West Ham game and in the Watford one too, which showed the great character and spirit of the team.”

The 27-year-old looked in more detail at the threat which high-flying Sheffield United will pose tomorrow afternoon, and is eager to make amends for the 1-0 defeat against them at the Amex in December.

“It was good to have that couple of weeks just to regroup and then go again. We weren’t very happy with the first game we played against them, and now it’s time to put that behind us and kick on with this game," he said.

“I remember playing them two years ago when I was at Wigan and you could see how good they were in terms of the way they attack.

“Teams have struggled to deal with them and they fully deserve to be in the position they’re in. The squad they’ve got shows a very good togetherness, and I’m sure they will keep kicking on.”
