Albion host Chelsea tomorrow looking to make it back-to-back home wins following Saturday’s 2-0 home success over AFC Bournemouth, and the Head Coach wants his team to go into the fixture confident they can get another positive result.

He said, “We try to go into every game with a mentality and belief that we can get something.

“You just have to try and implement what you want to do during the game, while also understanding that the opposition want to do the same.

“We just have to keep doing our best. The top six sides in this league are at a different level - historically that's a fact. But you should never go onto a pitch thinking you’ve got no chance.

“We have to understand that Chelsea will come with a good side. They’re a top team who are in the Champions League so that’s the challenge facing us."

Potter's Chelsea press conference

Potter will be familiar with Chelsea's Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount from last season when his Swansea City team played Frank Lampard's former club Derby County in the Championship.

The pair have featured heavily for Lampard’s side this term, and the Albion Head Coach says their input in the first half of the season has not surprised him.

“I really liked them when we played against them with Swansea last season,” Potter added. “Credit has to go to Frank Lampard for integrating them into the group. Chelsea want to push on in the league and progress in Europe and that’s not easy. They have done a great job.

“The Championship is a different level of competition, but you could see that they could use their attributes in the Premier League.”

Potter has also been impressed with his opposite number Lampard's start to life in management.

“He’s done a really good job and I like him a lot. I was impressed with his work at Derby County and I have been with Chelsea," he said.

“To manage the situation he’s inherited in terms of the transfer embargo has been really impressive. He’s used young players well and been flexible in his approach.

“He knows the game well and he’s an intelligent guy, that combination is good."
