Davy Propper admitted that Albion lacked intensity in their performance against Sheffield United on Saturday, and says they must recapture their recent performance levels for the remainder of the festive period.

Albion went down 1-0 to the Blades following Ollie McBurnie’s first-half strike, and Propper admits the side couldn’t match the visitors’ pace on the ball.

He said, “They were playing with a lot of energy and were pushing forward quite hard in the game. I thought we prepared for it well, but we didn’t have the same speed or mentality as them.

“In the past we have shown what we can do, and we need to do that again, as we won’t go very far if we play how we did on Saturday.”

United’s win at the Amex means they are now unbeaten in nine Premier League away games. Despite recognising how good the Blades have been on the road, Propper explained it cannot be used as an excuse to put in a below-par display before looking ahead to the Tottenham Hotspur match on Boxing Day.

“With the system they play and the energy they have, it’s a little bit different to ours. But in every game you need to have a go.

“Now all our focus is on the Tottenham game, and it will be good to have another game again so quickly after this one."
