Ben White was named in the EFL Team of the Week.

The defender played another key role in helping Leeds United beat Christian Walton’s Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, as Patrick Bamford’s penalty and a strike five minutes later from Jack Harrison were enough to keep the Whites third in the table heading into the international break.

There was also late south London derby joy for Jayson Molumby and Millwall in the same division, as the Lions beat Charlton Athletic 2-1 at the Den thanks to Matt Smith’s goal in injury time. Beram Kayal entered the action after 67 minutes, but couldn’t help Lee Bowyer’s men get anything from the contest against Gary Rowett’s side, while Matt Clarke and Derby County fell to a 1-0 defeat to rivals Nottingham Forest in the televised lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, with the defender withdrawing through injury.

Robert Sanchez and Rochdale will need a replay with Wrexham after the two teams drew 0-0 in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday afternoon. In non-league, fellow goalkeeper Carl Rushworth and Worthing United exited the FA Trophy at the hands of AFC Sudbury after a 4-1 defeat.

Albion across the globe:

Jurgen Locadia continued his impressive recent run of form by scoring for FC Hoffenheim on Friday night, sealing a late 2-1 win away to FC Koln in the Bundesliga. The goal was the Dutchman’s third in as many league games, coming in a victory that extended the side’s winning run to six matches in all competitions.

In Germany’s second tier, Leo Ostigard and FC St Pauli drew 1-1 at home to VfL Bochum as they sit 10th after 13 matches of the new season, while Percy Tau and Belgian league leaders Club Brugge lost 2-1 away to Antwerp.

Elsewhere in Europe, George Cox and Fortuna Sittard grabbed their third win of the season by beating Den Haag 1-0 on home soil and Florin Andone and Galatasaray were 2-0 winners over Gaziantep, with the Romanian striker being forced off through injury. In South America on Sunday, Alexis McAllister and Boca Juniors drew 0-0 away to Velez Sarsfield in Argentina’s top-flight.
