Gibbons will be targeting her second appearance at the stadium after appearing in the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal back in April, and she says the whole squad are motivated to achieve a much-improved result this time round.

She said, “We just want to enjoy the game and the occasion. After the Arsenal game last season, we definitely felt disappointed with how we performed.

“This time round it is going to be about going out there with no regrets, and leaving everything out on the pitch.

“You have to take in the moment and make the most it, because you don’t know how many times it is going to happen.”

Despite finishing fourth last season, Birmingham only have one league win to their name this campaign. However, the Blues head into the match on the back of a win in their previous FAWSL match against Liverpool, but Gibbons believes there is more than enough quality within the Albion squad to come away with the right result.

“It will be a very competitive game, but we feel like we can compete with them and take all three points from.

“They have come off the back of a good result in the league, so we know they are going to be confident coming here as well.

“But we’ll approach it the same as we do every game, by doing our homework on the training pitch and then finish the job come matchday.”

Fliss Gibbons talks to the media ahead of Sunday's game.

The 25-year-old is now encouraging all Albion fans to turn out on mass at the Amex, and says games like these are vital in inspiring the next generation of female footballers.

“If we can get good numbers here, then it creates a great atmosphere, which makes all the difference.

“We had 5,000 here for the Arsenal game, and it did make a big difference. I think we have had much better numbers at Crawley this season, so we are hoping we can improve on that 5,000 attendance and hopefully make the Amex a bit of a fortress on Sunday.

“I have always said that Brighton is more of a community orientated club, and we take a lot of pride in that.

“It is always a really nice occasion, and the support we get is always positive. We would definitely appreciate your support, especially if you have got families with young girls.

“It they can come along to what may be their first game, then I’m sure they will want to come back every week.”
