After keeping out Arsenal during the 90 minutes, Albion forced a penalty shootout which Harris admits not many people outside of the club would have expected, especially after losing to the Gunners 4-0 in the league earlier in the season.

She said, “I’m happy that we could get the win on penalties, and that I could be part of it and have an impact in the shootout. Nobody expected us to get a clean sheet or to get it to penalties.

“We worked so hard throughout the whole 90 minutes, not letting them break us down. Then it came down to which goalkeeper could make the saves needed, and the players to score.

“Our game plan worked and the whole team stuck to it. From the forwards to the defence, everybody played their part in the game.

"I was at Arsenal for a long time, but it was just good for me to get my name out there and have a positive impact.”

After overcoming injury problems that troubled her over the course of last season and into pre-season this summer, Harris was happy to be back in action and make a positive mark on the match.

“I’ve been away for a while with injuries, but I’m back now and ready to fight for my place.

“There are a lot of times where you think about wanting to play the game and being on the pitch, and now I’m back, something good has come from it and makes all the hard work worthwhile.”

Harris then gave some insight into the team’s mentality heading into the shootout and spoke about the confidence they took in keeping out Arsenal’s star-studded strike force during the match.

“As soon as it [the shootout] came round, the girls stood up, wanted to take penalties and were confident. The penalties we took were good as well and I think because of how hard we worked, we deserved to get something from the game.

“My thoughts were to stay positive, stay big and just go for everything and try to get a save. One save helps the girls and takes a bit of pressure off. Just saving any of them would have been good, but that first one was a great save.

“When you go a goal down early on in a game, especially against a side like Arsenal, it’s very difficult to come back from that. Because we kept it at 0-0 and kept them out, it gave us confidence throughout the game, and we knew in the second half that we could get something from it.”
