Solly March admits Albion can have no complaints from Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United, but was left frustrated by the nature of the goals they conceded at Old Trafford.

Graham Potter’s side left themselves with a mountain to climb after Andreas Pereira’s deflected effort and Davy Propper’s own-goal in the space of two minutes put United 2-0 up, and March felt they were both avoidable.

He said, “It was definitely a fair result, as we weren’t at the standard we set ourselves from the last two or three weeks, and I don’t know what the reason is behind that.

“Hopefully we can forget about this and move on. The first two goals were quite sloppy, even the third one too.

“They were down to us giving the ball away, and we knew they had a lot of pace heading into the game, which we deal with well enough.”

Despite the disappointing result, March says the squad can take a lot of satisfaction from their haul of 15 points from 12 games, and is eager to reclaim his place in the team following his recovery from a thigh problem.

“We started the season well, and we could’ve had a lot more points on the board. We need to maintain our standards from the last couple of weeks, and if we do that, then we’ll finish the season well," he continued.

“We’ve got the middle 12 or 13 games of the season coming up, and if we take our chances, then we’re confident we can have a good season.

“It’s been disappointing not to play as everyone wants to play football. What made it more frustrating was that I lost my place through an injury, and now I’ve just got to stay fit, get my place back and keep working hard.”

Lewis Dunk celebrates scoring against Manchester United.

Albion are back in action after the international break on 23rd November when they host high-flying Leicester City at the Amex, and March believes there is more than enough strength in depth to cope with Lewis Dunk’s suspension after a yellow card ruled him out of the Foxes’ visit.

“Everyone has trained well, so whoever comes in for Dunky will be ready to go and step in.

“We’ve started to improve in recent weeks, especially at home. The way we’re playing has impressed a lot of people, who are saying some very nice things about us. We need to stick to our guns and hopefully get a good result when we play Leicester.”
