Albion will highlight Kick It Out’s ongoing contribution to the game on Sunday, and the Seagulls manager says it is crucial that their vision for equality is spread far and wide.

She said, “The work they do is vital, and the messages they deliver to say racism isn’t tolerated in the game are more important now than ever.

“They’ve done some brilliant work over the years, but it’s sad that these campaigns are still necessary.

“The work that they do should be applauded and I’m really pleased to be part of a celebration of Kick It Out.”

Powell spoke about how football is able to bring different cultures and communities together, and explained that organisations such as Kick It Out give fans a voice to counter discrimination.

“The beauty of football is that it speaks a common language and embraces everyone regardless of whatever creed or colour they come from," she continued.

“We need to keep hammering home these messages and show that abuse of any kind will not be tolerated.

“We need to let the crowd in stadia know that this sort of behaviour isn’t acceptable, and to encourage fans to use their voice and report incidents of this nature.”

This season Kick It Out have launched their #KickItOutGeneration campaign. Everyone who wants football to be more inclusive is part of the #KickItOutGeneration. If you love the game but don’t like the hatred that sometimes goes with it, then get involved.

You can report discrimination to Kick It Out via their app, via email on report@kickitout.org, via their online reporting form on their website, or via freephone on 0800 169 9414.
