Jan Paul van Hecke says there is an 'unbelievable camaraderie' in the Albion squad.

Jan Paul van Hecke believes the ‘unbelievable camaraderie' among the squad can help Albion enjoy a successful second half of the season.

Despite a lengthy injury list, Albion are through to the last 16 in their inaugural Europa League campaign, lie seventh in the Premier League ahead of Monday’s home game against Wolves, and face Sheffield United on 27 January for a place in the last 16 of the Emirates FA Cup.

And van Hecke, 23, who has been one of the mainstays of the side this season, says team spirit and togetherness have played a big part and will continue to do so in the second half of the season.

Jan Paul van Hecke and the rest of the squad enjoyed a warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

“We have an unbelievable camaraderie as a group,” said the Dutch defender. “There is a great togetherness. We do things together and there aren’t any separate groups within the squad.

“There are players from all over the world but we all click together. It gives everyone a really good feeling. The manager and his staff have helped create a really strong togetherness and I believe we can achieve great things this season.

“When you think of the injuries for us to be seventh says a lot about the strength of the squad.

“We want to do well in the FA Cup and have another really good season in the league.

“We’re trying to go all the way in the Europa League. It wasn’t easy in the beginning, we didn’t have experience perhaps but the second half against Marseille changed it around. Since then we haven’t let a goal in and the belief is we can go really far.”
