Skipper Lewis Dunk admitted Albion needed to improve after a poor first-half performance in the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.
Jordan Ayew put Palace in front on the stroke of half-time but a much improved Albion dominated the second period and levelled with eight minutes to go through Danny Welbeck’s brilliant header.
“The first half was awful from us,” admitted Dunk. “We started the game terribly but in the second half we showed a lot more character and desire, but the first half is on us and we have to learn and do better. We didn’t play quickly enough and we had to show a reaction. The manager didn’t have to say much at half-time to us except ‘play better.’

‘In the position we were in it was nice to get the point but if we want to be where we want to be we have to win more games. At the moment we’re a little bit off so we have to get on the training pitch and do better.”
Welbeck returned after two months out with injury in the defeat at Arsenal on Sunday and Dunk was delighted to see him back on the scoresheet. “It was a great cross and header by Danny, and it’s great to see him back in the side,” added Dunk.
