Maisie Symonds is looking forward to working with head coach Melissa Phillips after signing her new contract.

Maisie Symonds is looking forward to a ‘fresh start’ with Albion after signing a new contract.

The 20-year-old missed much of last season after contracting glandular fever before suffering a ruptured ankle ligament. It restricted her to just four appearances, all as a substitute.

But she is determined to make up for lost time and has been working on her fitness for much of the summer prior to joining up with her teammates for the start of pre-season training next week.

“It’s nice to have a fresh start and a fresh energy, especially with the new players that have come in [to the squad] as well,” she said.

“I've worked really hard this summer to try and get in good shape for the new season because obviously last season I wasn't able to really contribute. I want to be a step ahead going into the new season and to remain fit so I’m available to help the team.”

Ahead of her first full season as head coach Melissa Phillips has been rebuilding the squad with Vicky Losada, Mackenzie Hawkesby, Pauline Bremer, Madison Haley and Charlie Rule all joining this summer.

“The way that the club has changed - the changes in management, players, styles is definitely a massive draw for players,” added Maisie. “With the ambition the club has, the new signings and management there’s no reason we can’t go for it this season.

“I love the club and I love the city so much and I’m looking to play my part to help this season to help us progress.”
