Katie Robinson will be looking to finish the season on a high.

Albion finish the WSL campaign on Saturday with a home game against Leicester City, kick off 2.30pm.

A win may see us climb to ninth depending on how Spurs get on in their final match against West Ham United.

Leicester need a point to ensure survival, although they will stay up even if they lose provided bottom club Reading fail to beat leaders Chelsea.

Team news

Melissa Phillips reported no new injury concerns ahead of the game. For five members of the squad – Victoria Williams, Megan Connolly, Kayleigh Green, Danielle Carter and Meg Walsh – it will be an emotional afternoon as it’s their last matchday for the club.

Past meetings

The teams last met back in January when Jens Scheur took charge of Albion for the first time and we went down 3-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Phillips's Leicester press conference

Melissa Phillips said, “It’s business as usual for us, we want to finish the season strongly by putting in a good performance which hopefully enables us to get the result we want and send off the players who are leaving on a high. I think we’re moving in the right direction and we have progressed in the last few weeks but we know we have a busy summer and pre-season ahead.”

Player to watch

By Kyle Hemsley
Aileen Whelan made more than 100 appearances for the club before joining Leicester City.

One familiar name in the Foxes’ squad is Aileen Whelan, who left Albion a year ago and headed to the east Midlands. Whelan made 101 appearances for the club and scored 16 goals in an Albion shirt. The 31-year-old spent five years at the club having previously played for Notts County and Everton.

Stats and facts

  • Albion won their first WSL meeting with Leicester in November 2021 under Hope Powell but have since lost their last two without scoring.
  • The home team has won the previous three Women’s Super League meetings between Albion and Leicester, with the away team failing to score in each defeat.
  • Albion haven’t lost their final WSL game of the season in any of their three fully completed campaigns (W2 D1), drawing 1-1 with Everton last season.
  • Leicester have lost 19 of their 21 away Women’s Super League games (W2), including the last five in a row by an aggregate score of 18-1. A defeat in this game would see them equal the fewest games to lose 20 away WSL games, level with Yeovil Town (22 games).
  • Albion have shipped 32 goals on home soil in the Women’s Super League this season. Only Yeovil in 2018-19 (36) and Bristol City in 2020-21 (33) have conceded more home goals in a WSL season.
  • Leicester City have lost each of their last three league matches and could lose four league games consecutively under Willie Kirk for the first time.
  • Leicester City have used 30 players in the Women’s Super League this season, three more than any other side. The Foxes have also named the youngest starting XIs on average (25 years and 56 days).
  • Albion have dropped 12 points from winning positions in the Women’s Super League this season, the joint-most of any side along with Aston Villa.
  • Leicester manager Willie Kirk has won three of his six WSL matches against Brighton (D2 L1), only winning more against Liverpool (5) and Reading (4).
