Albion are set for a busy schedule in the coming weeks, starting with their match against Brentford on Saturday, but defender Joel Veltman is excited about the prospect of playing so many games in a short period of time.
"Saturday's game could be a good start for the coming two months. The gaffer wants us to close the gap [in the league table] in the coming week," the Dutchman said.
Veltman has experience with a busy fixture schedule from his time at Ajax, where the team played in European competitions and had to play every Saturday and Tuesday.
"It’s great when you have winning momentum as you’re just playing games and carry that feeling. But then if you lose you have a chance really quickly to put it right. There’s less training, more games, I am a fan of it!" he added.
Albion know that a couple of wins could see them climb up to fourth place, while a couple of losses could see them drop down to tenth. They still have 13 league games to play between now and 28 May as well as an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.
"We are just focused on the games and not so much the table. It’s up to us to win and aim for the higher places."
Despite the busy schedule, Joel is feeling recharged after a few days off. "Things are going quite well, I had a good break and feel recharged. I am happy. I wasn’t in the Netherlands squad, so the sooner the Premier League restarts, the better."
