Brighton have only won one of their eight Barclays WSL matches against Chelsea (D2 L5). That came in February 2021 when goals from Aileen Whelan and Megan Connolly secured a 2-1 win at Kingsmeadow.
When the teams met in October, second-half goals from Beth England and Pernille Harder earned Chelsea a 2-0 win in front of a record Broadfield Stadium crowd of 3626.
Chelsea have only conceded one goal in four away matches against Brighton in the Barclays WSL, although they did fail to score themselves in their last visit (0-0 in January of this year).

Sam Kerr is one of the leading players in the WSL and in world football, having finished third in the 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or behind Arsenal’s Beth Mead and Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas. The Australian won the WSL Golden Boot last season after netting 20 goals and has six goals and three assists in the league this season. She also scored Chelsea’s goal in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the final of the Continental League Cup.
Recent form
Chelsea are currently third in the table, four points behind leaders Manchester United but with two games in hand.
They took the lead in Sunday’s League Cup final only to suffer a 3-1 defeat to title rivals Arsenal. It came a week after they had beaten the Gunners 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Their only league defeat came on the opening weekend of the season when they lost 2-1 at Liverpool.
Albion have only won twice in the WSL this season and not at all since early November. But we go into the game on the back of a confidence-boosting 5-0 victory over Coventry United in the FA Cup in our last fixture.
