Roberto De Zerbi has praised Pascal Gross’s versatility as Albion prepare for a return to action.
The 31-year-old German midfielder has played in several different positions since the Italian came to the club in September, and De Zerbi says he is one of the ‘smartest’ players in his squad.
Asked if the German is of the most intelligent players he as worked with, De Zerbi said, “Yes I think so, because he understands everything. I think his father is a coach and I think his future is to become coach.

“He can play in midfield, or full back or on the wing and his performances never change, he is a top player for us and a great professional.
“I think he is one of the smartest players I have worked with in my career."
Albion visit Championship side Stoke City on Tuesday night in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup when Gross, who scored in the third round win over Middlesbrough, will be hoping to add to his six goals so far this season.
