Albion face Coventry United in the fifth round of the Vitality FA Cup.

Kayleigh Green says the women’s team are feeling fresh ahead of their Vitality FA Cup fifth round match against Coventry United.

We welcome the Red and Greens to the Broadfield Stadium on Sunday, kick-off 2pm, after a fortnight’s international break.

“We’ve just comeback from internationals and we’ve had a lot of girls who have been away,” Green explained. “When you come back from playing for your country you have a bit of energy, but going into the Coventry game we know it’s going to be tough.

“They’re the underdogs and in the FA Cup there are always hiccups and shocks, we can’t think it’s an easy game – if we do that then we’ll be in trouble. We need to prep like it’s any other game and hopefully we can get through.

Scheuer's Coventry press conference

“They’re going to be physical. They might be at the bottom of the Championship, but they’ve won a few games recently and we know it’s going to be a battle.

“Our mindset should always be the same, focussed and wanting to win games, but this is an opportunity to step in with an advantage of being a WSL team. The pressure is going to be on us to win, they are going in without external expectations and we have to deal with that.”

The break came on the back of a 6-2 defeat to Aston Villa, having drawn with Carla Ward’s side the week prior.

“We went away to Aston Villa and got a good point, but then we had a really tough game at home against them. The break definitely came at a good time to refresh and refocus.”
