Poppy Pattinson has played every WSL game this season for Albion.

Poppy Pattinson is looking forward to facing her former team Everton this Sunday for our final WSL fixture before the winter break.

The defender said the squad are eager to return to winning ways after their three game unbeaten run was ended at Manchester City last weekend.

She said, “It wasn’t the result that we were looking for last weekend, but the second half performance was good and something we’ll take pride from heading into this weekend.

“Every fixture is a competitive game in this league, previously playing at Everton I can see a lot of their strengths.

Albion lost 3-1 in their last WSL match against Manchester City.

“We’re looking forward to it and hopefully it’ll be a good game, they’ll definitely bring a physicality. Everyone is wanting to get points at the moment but so are we.”

The 22-year-old signed for the club in July from Everton but insists she’s excited to face her previous team in a Brighton shirt.

“I’m friends with a lot of girls still there, I know how they like to play but I want to win for Brighton and that’s what I’ll go out to do.”

Pattinson recognised that it’s been a challenging run of fixtures for the team in recent weeks but insists the team can finish the game strong ahead of the winter break.

Amy Merricks's Everton press conference

“It’s a hard spell, we’re coming to the Christmas break now and I think some teams have got a bit of tiredness in their legs. We want to use that to our advantage to try and take the three points for ourselves.

“I think before the weekend, we went three unbeaten and it was a tough fixture against Manchester City, but we see this game as an opportunity. Anyone can take points from anyone, and we want to go into the Christmas break on a good spell.

“Ever since I joined the fans have been great for me personally but also for the team, we want to do them proud and get the win for them.”
