Hope Powell's team have one win in the WSL so far this campaign.

Hope Powell says Albion will have to be at their best in all departments to get a positive result against Chelsea this Sunday.

The game marks our first outing at Crawley this season, for what is set to be a record attendance at the Broadfield Stadium for a WSL match.

Albion have enjoyed relatively good results against the Blues in recent times, beating them in the 2020/21 season, while also taking a point off them in January this year.

Powell though doesn’t think that will have too much bearing on Sunday’s match.

“Those results were before, we’ve got to deal with what’s ahead of us. We hold that and think ‘we’ve had really spirited performances’, but there’s a plan we’ve now got to execute on Sunday and that’s the task.

Powell's Chelsea press conference

“We’ve got a small squad and they’re doing well, but it is quite demanding. You can’t rotate as much as you’d like, you can’t bring players on as early as you would like to, so that has been a little bit challenging and we have got to get on.”

Albion have taken three points from their opening three WSL matches, beating Reading 2-1, while suffering 4-0 defeats to Arsenal and Manchester United.

“We’ve played against top sides so far and we’re playing against another one,” Powell continued. “For us it’s about the attitude and effort, we need to see more of that, like against Arsenal when we went a player down, I was really proud of the players even though we were beaten. Against Manchester United we were a lot better in the second half.

“So if we combine those, as well as the attitude to win against Reading, you give yourself a chance and that’s all we ask.”
