Evan Ferguson scored his first senior goal for Albion in the 3-0 win at Forest Green Rovers in the Carabao Cup.

Evan Ferguson says he is delighted to have signed a four-year deal with the club – his first long-term professional contract.

The striker, who is celebrating his 18th birthday today, netted his first senior goal in August’s Carabao Cup victory at Forest Green Rovers and has committed his future to the club until June 2026.

“I’m delighted to sign,” said Ferguson. “When I first came here, I had a pre-contract so always had something to work towards, and to now get it signed with family here is special. I’m absolutely buzzing.

Evan Ferguson has signed a new contract.

“This contract gives me a chance to push on. It’s nice of the club to show they’re happy with what I’ve done in my time so far and I think it’s a reward for doing good things. I’m really glad to get it signed.”

Ferguson is yet to feature in De Zerbi’s first-team squad on a Premier League matchday, but the Irishman is enjoying life under the Italian and has been impressed so far.

“The new manager has come in and done really well. As players we’re all working really hard under him and getting used to his ideas and how he works.

“The team are showing good things under him and he’s been very good with us as a squad.”
