Graham Potter applauds the Albion fans after the 3-0 win at Wolves last Saturday.

Graham Potter could barely contain his delight as Albion cruised to a 3-0 win at Wolves.

It was a hugely impressive performance from start to finish and took the Seagulls onto 44 points – the club’s highest points tally as a Premier League club.

“Everything about the performance I liked,” said the head coach. “We defended when we had to but also offered a threat going forward, and it was nice to score three goals.

“We have had some good away days this year and that was up there. You could see the second-half performance was up another level from the first and the boys looked hungry to score and enthusiastic to get forward.

“It was also important for us to keep a clean sheet because we didn’t want to let them back in the game and we managed the situation quite well.”

Leandro Trossard enjoys the acclaim of Albion's fans after scoring for the third away game in four.

A pivotal moment in the game was Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty shortly before half-time. It came after the Argentine had missed a spot-kick earlier in the half and it was a goal that earned praise from the coach. “I think it says a lot about Alexis that he has the personality and character to go again and execute the same penalty.

“We were just delighted that it went in because our penalty record hasn’t been the best. It’s important to get the first goal in Premier League games, so the pressure was on, and full credit to him.”

The victory was Albion’s seventh away league win of the season, moving the side up to ninth in the table, and Potter has challenged his side to maintain their momentum for the final three games of the campaign.

“We’ve got some good games coming up but we focus on the next game, Manchester United, next Saturday. We know we have to keep playing well but the guys are in a good place and will need to be to compete for the points.”
