Hope Powell was delighted with Albion's performance after they completed a Barclays Women's Super League double over West Ham United.

Goals from Aileen Whelan and Inessa Kaagman sealed a 2-0 win which lifted Albion above West Ham into sixth place.

"I thought it was a really good performance from back to front by us, and we thoroughly deserved to pick up the three points.

"We don't score too many early goals so that obviously gave us confidence and I was actually a little bit disappointed we didn't score one or two more goals in the first half."

Inessa Kaagman makes it 2-0 with her third goal of the season.

West Ham came more into the game in the second half but Katie Startup, on her WSL debut, produced a solid performance in goal.

"I thought Katie did really well," added Powell. "She looked confident and secure. We knew they would come at us in the second half. They've got some good players and they have come from behind in a lot of games at home this season to take points, but we defended well as a team, were resilient and then got the second goal near the end."

With four matches to go, Albion remain on course to emulate last season's sixth-placed finish. They have home games against Birmingham City and Everton and trips to Manchester United and Manchester City remaining.

"Sixth again this season would be a better achievement I think because the standard of the league is better," added Powell. "We've got Man United next week which will be tough but we showed today that we can get results away from home and play well, I am really pleased for the players."
