Graham Potter wants Albion to use the international break as an opportunity to reset.

Graham Potter praised his side’s efforts in their defeat to Tottenham but felt the visitors’ quality shone through in the end.

Dejan Kulusevski’s strike deflected off Cristian Romero towards the end of the first half to put the visitors in the lead, before Harry Kane’s low drive doubled Spurs’ advantage in the 57th minute.

“It was a very tough evening,” Potter said. “The boys put such a lot into the game, I am so proud of them in that regard. We were just a little bit short of quality against a very good side.

“It was a pretty even game until they scored, but even then we kept pushing for the equaliser – but then they scored a second after there was a handball shout for us. Then we have to keep going and we did, but in those situations you leave yourself open to counter-attacks, but the boys gave everything.

“We had a real go. Tottenham have got some really good players and if you get something wrong they can punish you. I didn’t think there were too many chances.

“Over the course of the game I think Tottenham probably deserved to win because of the chances they created, but maybe the story of the game is a little bit different.”

The Albion head coach welcomed the international break as it gives his player an opportunity to press the reset button after a run of six consecutive defeats.

“We lose a lot of the guys over the international break, but it’s an opportunity to reset. We’ve had a tough time, so it’s a good chance for the boys to clear their heads a little bit and to look at everything we need to do to improve.

“But the break comes at a good time for us because we’re in a bad moment. We will take the time to recover and prepare for Norwich."
