Enock Mwepu has returned to training.

Saturday’s game at Newcastle United might come too early, but Enock Mwepu is close to a return to action.

The Zambian midfielder is back training with the squad nearly two months after he limped off with a thigh injury during Albion’s 2-1 win over West Brom in the FA Cup.

Head coach Graham Potter said that it had been a tough few weeks for the 24-year-old, who has made 14 appearances since joining the club last summer and scored his first Premier League goal in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool in October.

“It’s been a frustrating time for Enock,” said Potter. “He had some illness as well as recovering from the injury, which can happen when you are getting used to the physicality and intensity of the Premier League.

“I feel for him but he’s back training with the group, although he’s probably doubtful to be involved on Saturday.

“But I look forward to him helping us finish the season strongly in the last 12 games. He’s got the qualities to help us, as we saw before his injury.”
