Bjorn Hamberg took the team in the absence of Graham Potter and Billy Reid.

Coach Bjorn Hamberg felt Danny Welbeck’s second-half equaliser was no more than Albion deserved as they held Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Patson Daka put Leicester ahead in the 47th minute but Welbeck came off the bench to head an equaliser nine minutes from time. The 1-1 scoreline was Albion’s 12th draw of the season and leaves them in ninth place.

Hamberg was in charge of the team after both Graham Potter and Billy Reid tested positive for Covid-19.

Hamberg said, “It was a game of two halves, Leicester were the better side in the first half but our reaction after going behind was really good. I enjoyed the game more and more particularly the last third of it. It was a good collective performance and a point we deserved.

“We know how every game in the Premier League is tough. We knew we could use the ball better, we thought we could reach higher standards in the second half. The reaction to going behind reflected the group.”

Hamberg paid tribute to the contribution that Welbeck and fellow substitutes Tariq Lamptey and Solly March made when they came on in the second half.

“We went more on the front foot in the second half. To do that you need a strong squad and all three players who came on made an impact. Graham was in contact with us but the players know what to expect from us and each other, we tweaked things here and there but it showed we have a great squad.”
