Graham Potter hailed 'fantastic' goals by Leandro Trossard and Neal Maupay as Albion returned to winning ways.

Trossard scored his fourth of the season and Maupay his seventh in a 2-0 Amex win over Brentford, Albion's first Premier League success in 12 attempts.

"I thought we were really good in a lot of our play, especially in the first half," said the head coach.

"It was nice to score two good goals and to keep a clean sheet. We knew Brentford would respond in the second half and we needed Rob Sanchez to make a couple of important saves. We weren't as good as we'd been in the first half, but overall I thought we did enough to win. The result was the important thing tonight."

Neal Maupay found the top right corner in emphatic fashion - just his second Premier League goal from outside the box.

Trossard struck with a wonderful volley before Maupay found the top corner against his former club in the space of six first-half minutes.

"Both goals were fantastic, really nice," added Potter. "I was right behind Leo's so I saw that all the way and Neal's was a great strike. On both occasions we won the ball back by pressing high. That's seven now for Neal who is contributing really positively.

"We had to dig in and had a bit of luck but the clean sheet was important. That's 23 points from 17 games and only three teams have lost fewer matches."

Potter said that Trossard was withdrawn at half-time as a precaution with a tight hamstring and will be assessed ahead of Wednesday's trip to Chelsea.
