Graham Potter was delighted to see Albion progress to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup and welcome two players back after lengthy injury lay-offs.

Tariq Lamptey got his first 45 minutes since last December and Jurgen Locadia played for the first time since August 2019 when he came off the bench for the last 15 minutes of the 2-0 Amex win over Swansea City.

Potter said, "The crowd have seen Tariq perform in empty stadiums during lockdown and they were excited by him. They were desperate to see him play and for his first 45 minutes in such a long time I thought he was really good.

"It was also good to get Jurgen [Locadia] on for the last 15 minutes. He's been training well and building up his stamina so it was good for him to get on the pitch."

Two well-taken goals by Aaron Connolly won the game against Potter's former club.

"Aaron has had a tough time so it's good to see him hit the back of the net with two good finishes," added Potter. "I was really pleased for him so all-in-all it's been a good night's work against an impressive team. It was a hard-fought game and a good test for us."

Albion travel to Leicester City in the fourth round with the tie to be played week beginning 25 October.
