Hope Powell has been nominated for WSL Manager of the Season.

Albion boss Hope Powell is one of five nominations for the prestigious Barclays FA Women’s Super League Manager of the Season award.

Hope has been recognised for her achievements in leading Albion to what will be their highest finish in the club’s WSL history.

Currently sixth with two games to go, Albion have won six games out of eight since February.

That sequence included a 2-1 win over Chelsea, the first time the champions had lost at home for 34 games, and a first-ever victory over Manchester United last month. Earlier in the season, Albion also drew 0-0 at Manchester City. They have also reached the quarter-finals of last season’s Vitality FA Cup and are through to the last 16 of this season’s competition.

Hope said, “It’s lovely to be nominated along with some really good managers.

Powell oversaw Albion's best winning run in the WSL of four straight victories earlier on this campaign.

“As I have said before, there is a lot of hard work done behind the scenes and I’d like to thank my staff and of course the players and also the club for the great support we get from everyone.”

The other nominees are Emma Hayes (Chelsea), Carla Ward (Birmingham City), Casey Stoney (Manchester United) and Gareth Taylor (Manchester City).

Voting for the award is open now and closes at midday on Friday.
