Graham Potter has applauded the current form of Danny Welbeck after the striker took his tally for the season to four with a goal against his former club Manchester United on Sunday.

Welbeck was also on target against Newcastle United at the Amex last month, and Potter is pleased to have the former England international firing on all cylinders as Albion prepare for the last eight games of the season.

He said, “He’s had some setbacks in the last few years, so we’re delighted to have him fully fit because you can see his quality.

“He’s an important player for us on and off the pitch. He brings an experience and a calmness, as well as real integrity as a person - everyone likes him around the place.

“The way he goes about his work is really impressive. He can score goals, he can play in different positions across the front line and links play well.”

The head coach also recognises that scoring consistently can have Albion looking up the table in this final part of the season.

“Scoring goals in the Premier League is not an easy thing to do, because there are some quality players that you come up against in every match.

“It’s an area we want to always try and improve. I’ve said before that the number of chances we create, and our general levels of performance have been good this season.

“It’s just that little bit of perseverance because if we can take that next step then we will get more points."
