Graham Potter felt Albion merited a reward against Leicester City as they succumbed to a late goal in a 2-1 defeat.
Adam Lallana had put the hosts in front with his first goal for the club but Kelechi Iheanacho equalised before Daniel Amartey headed in the winner three minutes from time.
“It's a sore one, I thought from the performance we deserved something and that defeat was harsh but this is a harsh league,” said Potter.
“We played well in the first half but over the course of the game we probably missed too many passes to create sustained pressure.
“We gave the ball away too cheaply in the second half against a very good Leicester side.
“I thought we responded quite well to the first goal but I was disappointed with the way we conceded the second. I haven't seen it back but [mistakes] are part of the game.
“Rob Sanchez made a wonderful save in the first half and it's not the reason we lost, it's part of football. We all make mistakes and we lose as a team so we need to stick together.”
Albion have now dropped 17 points from winning positions this season and remain three points above the relegation zone.
Potter added, “We know we're in a fight but that's been the situation for some time. We're hurting at the moment but we've got no choice but to regroup and go again.”
