Brighton & Hove Albion had a very special visitor on Thursday, as HRH The Duchess of Cornwall arrived at the American Express Community Stadium for the biannual East Sussex Women of the Year lunch.
The Duchess joined over 250 women at the Mayo Wynne Baxter Lounge, which included a speech from Lunch President and Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne, as well as Ronke Phillips, a senior correspondent of ITN London and an influential award-winning crime writer.
Women’s chair and director Michelle Walder, said, “It was a privilege to welcome The Duchess to our wonderful stadium, and to celebrate the contributions made by so many women in the county.
“There was a lot of diversity at the event itself, and it is something which we were proud to support as a club.”
Chairman of the East Sussex Women of the Year Lunch, Quenelda Avery, added, “This event brings people together from all walks of life and makes them feel valued. Having the Duchess thank them for their contribution to the county, was the icing on the cake.
“We are very proud, not only of her patronage but also of the fact that she was brought up in this beautiful county, which has so many memories of her time here.”
