Brighton & Hove Albion travel to league leaders Arsenal in the FA Women’s Super League today, kick-off 12.30pm.

Albion head into the match on the back of a 4-1 defeat to Reading last week, where the Seagulls were unfortunate to fall behind after a Fara Williams shot hit the post before rebounding off the helpless Marie Hourihan in goal and rolling into the back of the net.

Brooke Chaplen doubled Reading’s lead just before the hour mark, but Albion fought back to reduce the deficit back to one goal just two minutes later after Aileen Whelan dispatched Ini Umotong’s cross with a well-placed header.

Despite their best efforts, further goals from Fara Williams and Gemma Davison secured the three points for the Royals, keeping Albion in ninth place, above both Everton and Yeovil.

Meanwhile, the Gunners currently have a 100% record in all competitions this season, scoring a mammoth 34 goals in the league alone, and keeping a clean sheet in all but two of their matches.

Last time out, Arsenal defeated Everton 4-0 thanks to goals from Danielle van der Donk, Jordan Nobbs and Vivienne Miedema (2).

However, the Gunners were dealt a blow in the match as England international Jordan Nobbs suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, which is likely to keep her out for the rest of the season.

Other notable results for Arsenal this season include a 7-0 victory over Yeovil Town, a 6-0 win over Reading and an impressive 5-0 defeat of current FA WSL holders Chelsea.

Albion supporters can follow a live text blog on the Match Centre, with a match report to go online shortly after the full-time whistle.
