Plenty of Brighton & Hove Albion’s loan players were in Emirates FA Cup action over third round weekend.

Midfielder Jordan Maguire-Drew made his debut for League Two side Coventry City after joining on loan until the end of the season earlier this week and arguably one of the upsets of the round occurred at the Ricoh Arena as they beat Premier League side Stoke City 2-1.

The Seagulls man claimed an assist for the first goal of the afternoon as his corner was headed home by Jordan Willis, before Charlie Adam’s second half penalty then levelled the scores for the Premier League outfit.

But Jack Grimmer netted a dramatic winner for the Sky Blues 20 minutes from the end to send Mark Robins’ side into the next round of the competition.

On the south coast goalkeeper Christian Walton claimed Wigan Athletic’s ‘Man of the Match Award’ as the Latics played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The stopper’s side took a 2-0 lead through a first half strike from Will Grigg and an own goal from home midfielder Emerson Hyndman, before Eddie Howe’s side forced a replay courtesy of goals from Lys Moussett and Steve Cook.

Defender Ben White was also in winning action for Newport County AFC on Sunday lunchtime as they hosted Championship side Leeds United at Rodney Parade.

The Yorkshire side took an early lead through Gaetano Berardi’s deflected effort, before a late second half double for the Exiles through an own goal and Shaun McCoulsky's late strike gave Mike Flynn's men a memorable 2-1 win.

Elsewhere, midfielder Oliver Norwood played the full 90 minutes of Fulham’s 1-0 defeat to Premier League side Southampton at Craven Cottage, with James Ward-Prowse’s first half goal enough to be the difference between the two sides in West London.
