Brighton & Hove Albion’s new under-23 signing Anders Dreyer completed an eventful 48 hours, after his move to the club from Esjberg was confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Having finished top scorer in the Danish first division during the 2017/18 campaign, the winger notched his first goal in Denmark’s top tier with the side over the weekend in a 3-3 draw with Randers Freja, before making the switch to the south coast two days later.

He said, “The new season started in mid-July, and I managed to score the weekend just gone.

“I wanted to carry the form over from last year and so far I’ve done that, I feel fit and raring to go and I’m looking forward to getting started.

“Last season was very successful for me personally - I scored plenty of goals and claimed some assists.

“We won promotion to Denmark’s top tier and it was a very good season for me and the club.”

Albion’s first season in the Premier League last term ended in a 15th-placed finish, whilst the under-23 side won promotion to Premier League 2 Division 1 with a play-off final success over Aston Villa in May.

Dreyer highlighted those exploits as being key in influencing his decision to make the move to the south coast.

“The first team did very well and the under-23 side won promotion to the top tier ahead of the new season too.

“That was a big factor for me and I followed their progress –  they all did a great job.

“The under-23 team is going to play against some big clubs and that’s a really good thing for me.”

Rusk’s side begin their Premier League 2 Division 1 campaign on Friday evening at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre against Liverpool, and Dreyer is relishing the opportunity to meet the side and get started.

“I’m delighted to be here, and this is a very big chance for me, I’m very excited to meet the group and get settled in.

“I chose the club because I saw how well they did last season during their first season in the Premier League.

“It’s a huge club, a big change for me and it’s one that I’m very excited about.”
