Adam Webster congratulates Robert Sanchez for his outstanding save against Spurs.

Adam Webster says Albion's defensive resilience has set them up nicely for the challenge of facing champions Liverpool.

Albion head to Anfield tonight having kept three successive clean sheets in the Premier League against Leeds, Fulham and Spurs, helping them pick up seven points in the process.

“Clean sheets give us the platform to go and get results,” he said. “But I think throughout the season our stats are quite good in terms of limiting the chances the opposition have.

“We've stuck at it through the tough times and it's good to get the rewards in the last couple of weeks.”

Webster pinpointed the start of January, when Albion played three away games in a week, as a potentially pivotal point in the season.

Potter's Liverpool press conference

“That week when we had three away games against Newport, Man City and Leeds probably helped. We spent a lot of time with each other and since then performances have been really good, and the dressing room is really positive at the moment.

“Against Spurs on Sunday I thought it was a really dominant performance. I'd say we've had quite a few 45 minutes similar to the first half and not killed teams off, and when you're only one goal ahead the opposition are always in the game.

“So seeing it out, as we did at Leeds, and digging in together, staying compact and limiting them to only a couple of chances was very pleasing.”

Albion will take heart from Burnley, the last visitors to Anfield, who ended their long unbeaten league run at home which stretched back to 2017 with a 1-0 win.

“Liverpool are the champions for a reason, they have a lot of ability,” said Webster. “But Sunday's result has given us a lot of confidence and we'll go to Anfield and take the game to them. I think we can get at them and we'll be looking to do that.”
