Cecilie Fiskerstrand enjoys the competition between her and Megan Walsh.

Cecilie Fiskerstrand believes her battle with Megan Walsh for the goalkeeper's jersey is bringing out the best in both players.

The Norwegian international played in Albion's last games before the Christmas break and hopes to get the nod tomorrow when they resume their WSL campaign at Bristol City.

But she sees in training every day just how good her teammate is.

“Megan is a great goalkeeper. I love working with her and I think we push each other on to do even better in training and matches.

“She's still young so I think she will develop and get even better. There are a lot of good English goalkeepers and she is one of them definitely.”

Fiskerstrand was able to return home to Norway during the holiday but admits the year since she joined the club has been difficult because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Cecilie Fiskerstrand was first choice goalkeeper prior to the winter break.

“It was lovely to spend some time with my friends and family. I came here in January and the first two months of 2020 were fine but no one was able to visit me after that, although I know it's the same for everyone.

“But there are some Norwegian players at Chelsea and Reading and before the lockdowns we were able to meet up which was nice when you can't see your family a lot.

“So it's been tough, but I am really enjoying playing for Brighton.”

Albion could move nine points clear of City, who currently occupy the relegation place, if they win at Twerton Park on Sunday but Fiskerstrand says the squad will be treating their opponents with the utmost respect.

“It's a big game but it's still only three points, the same as any other. We know they have some qualities and there is pressure, but pressure is a privilege especially at the moment because we are lucky to be playing as normal. We're looking forward to it and hopefully we will come back with three points.”
