Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay are showing signs of developing a strong partnership, according to Graham Potter.
“Last Saturday [against Aston Villa] was only their second game together, only Danny's second start and his first full 90 minutes so everything will take time but of course they can play together and they will get better.
“We have other players who can contribute with that pairing as well so it's exciting for us, just like we will as a collective and a team. The more we play together, the better we will get.”
Potter revealed that Leandro Trossard is back in the squad for Saturday's home game against Liverpool.
“Leo has trained a couple of times this week so that's good news. We still need to give Adam Lallana a bit more time and Solly March had a slight feeling in his ankle but nothing too bad, he should be ok.”
Tariq Lamptey serves a one match suspension after being red carded at Villa Park.
“Tariq is disappointed that he got the red card. It's all a learning experience for him but he's done a lot really, really well.
“There are things that he can improve on although that's normal for a player of his age and experience. But he has the right mentality. He will have to sit this one out and be ready for the next match.”
