Albion were held to a 1-1 draw at Norwich.

An inspired goalkeeping performance by Norwich's Joe Rose saw Albion under-18s denied a deserved victory on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw.

Heading into the match on the back of a 7-1 win over Leicester City and a 2-1 victory over West Brom, Albion started slowly at Norwich's Training Centre, but began to take control of proceedings.

Cameron Peupion continued his rich vein of form in front of goal, finding the back of the net for the sixth time in Premier League South action this season nine minutes before half-time.

Samy Chouchane intercepted a pass on the halfway-line as the Canaries looked to build out from the back with the Frenchman picking out Andy Moran. He played Peupion in down the right of the box, and the Australian expertly found the bottom left corner.

Despite Albion's dominance – getting 19 shots away in total in the game  – Norwich equalised when Jon Rowe's effort slipped through the gloves of Fynn Talley midway through the second-half.

Peupion had the opportunity to add to his tally as Albion were awarded a penalty, but he saw his effort kept out by Rose.

A late flurry saw Albion bombard the hosts' defence and they will consider themselves unlucky not to have found a winner, with Rose keeping the visitors at bay with a string of saves.

Head coach Mark Beard said, “We deserved to win, we were the better team and created the better chances. We missed a penalty and we had six chances in the last five minutes. We hit the bar, had two cleared off the line, goalmouth scrambles and one-against-ones. Their keeper was brilliant.

Mark Beard felt his side deserved all three points.

“We just couldn't score and a number of the chances we had were clear-cut as well. We could have come away having won four or five-one.

“Norwich set up differently to what we're used to, so we took a little bit of time to get to grips with that but as soon as we did we controlled the game.

“It was a really good game, but the boys were gutted – they dropped to the floor at the end, you'd have thought they had lost the game. The important thing is that they went right to the end looking for a winner.

“There's a lot of things to work on defensively still, which comes under my remit. But if they keep performing on the pitch, I can't ask much more of them.”
