Graham Potter says his side can still improve.

Graham Potter was delighted with Danny Welbeck’s impact despite hardly playing any football for the last three months.

The 29-year-old England international came on for the final 20 minutes against Tottenham on Sunday before making his first Albion start on Friday in the goalless draw against Burnley.

Nick Pope was the only thing between the ex-Manchester United forward and his first goal for the club with the Clarets keeper pulling off a top save in the first half to deny him.

Potter was very pleased with his display and thought Welbeck should have been part of a winning side.

Nick Pope makes a good save from Danny Welbeck.

“It’s Danny’s first start for a while and I thought he was really, really good. He gave us a different dimension which was really positive.

“The performance was really good. We pushed and pushed, restricted our opponent to not too much at all and we had some good chances. A lot of pride went into the performance and the boys gave everything. I am not disappointed at all with their efforts.

“Our effort and personality was really good, so in the end the only disappointment is to only pick up a point but the performance level was quite good.

“Having more shots on target is something that we can improve. The number of shots we have is good but you want to hit the target. Sometimes we made the wrong pass or we didn’t shoot when we passed. But again, that’s the hardest part [of the game]. We did enough to win the game, but that’s how it is.”
