Hope Powell has been named Barclays Women’s Super League manager of the month for September.
The Albion boss guided her side to four points from their first two games with a 2-0 win over Birmingham City and a 0-0 draw at last season’s runners-up Manchester City.
Powell said, “From a personal point of view it’s nice to win the accolade but I would like to pay tribute to my backroom staff and, of course, the players in accepting the award.
“We did a lot of hard work during lockdown as a squad and it continued when we came back for pre-season training. I think that helped us make such a strong start to the season and hopefully it will continue.
“I hope that as a club we’ll win a few more awards this season because it will show the progress we’re making.”
